Pichi Richi Railway's famous Coffee Pot steam railcar arrived in Quorn in July 1906, and received considerable interest from the local community.  The Quorn Mercury and The Port Augusta Dispatch newspapers both printed articles about the new vehicle, Steam Motor Coach No. 1.

The following article is The Quorn Mercury's account of the arrival of the new "motor", Tuesday 31 July, 1906.  As stated in the article above, the term "Foster motor car" is a reference to the Hon. R. W. Foster, who was a proponent of sourcing such a vehicle while Commissioner of Public Works.  R. W. Foster was formerly Mayor of Quorn, and later a Member of the House of Representatives.
